Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, recently revealed that he has plans to invest up to $50 billion in Africa’s industrialization, and Egypt will be included in this budget.
- Aliko Dangote plans to invest up to $50 billion in Africa's industrialization by 2030, with Egypt included in this initiative.
- The investment aims to bolster Africa's industrial capacity and reduce reliance on imports.
- Dangote targets $100 billion in revenue for the Dangote Group by 2030 and expects to exceed this goal.
- He intends to build the world's largest linear alkylbenzene plant in Egypt, boosting local detergent manufacturing.
He disclosed these plans during a meeting organized by the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), noting that the investment keys into his ultimate goal of bolstering Africa’s industrial capacity and reducing the continent’s dependence on imports.
“Our group has a vision: the vision is to invest between now and 2030 about $50 billion, and I’m sure Egypt will be part of that investment,” he said.
He also revealed that the 2030 plan will lead to 200% revenue generation, as he trusts that the Dangote Group will be able to rake in $100 billion.

“Our vision 2030 is to be a minimum $100 billion revenue company, and I think we will beat the target,” Dangote assured.
As for Egypt, he noted that it is one of the few African countries with a linear alkylbenzene plant.
To this effect, Dangote disclosed his intentions to set up what he described as the world’s largest linear alkylbenzene plant, with the capacity to produce 400,000 metric tons a year, in the North African country.
“So we have what we call linear alkylbenzene, which is what is used in making detergents; we only have two of these plants: one is in Egypt, 50,000 tons, and the other is in Algeria, 100,000 tonnes per annum,” he stated.
“We also want to make history here; we want to build the largest plant ever… 400,000 tonnes per annum,” he added, as seen on Amwal Alghad.
Dangote further said his expansion plan across Africa includes investments in energy, petrochemicals, construction materials, and agriculture.
Additionally, Dangote’s plans include a 530-kilometre subsea gas pipeline and power projects capable of generating up to 10,000 megawatts of electricity to support industries across Africa.
In cement, Dangote Group wants to raise its annual production capacity to 100 million metric tons by 2030, a move that would further cement its position as Africa’s biggest producer.
