So you took Davante Adams in the fifth round of your fantasy football draft and now he’s out 6-10 weeks. Where do you turn next?
Maybe you’re flush with talent at wide receiver because you nailed some of your late-round picks. But more likely, you need someone to fill in for Adams, potentially for the rest of the fantasy season.
The bad news is the Rams haven’t had a clear-cut WR3 all season, so it’s not as if there’s an obvious candidate to take over Adams’ role and see a significant uptick in playing time. The good news is all of the Rams’ wideouts besides Puka Nacua and Adams are likely available in your fantasy league.
The question is, who should you add? If you’re looking for an internal option, there’s only one player worth picking up.
One Rams WR to consider adding
Konata Mumpfield was asked to step up when Nacua was injured in Weeks 1 and 2, playing 69% of the snaps against the Giants and 74% against the Broncos in those games. He hasn’t played more than 50% in any other game this season and was on the field for just six total snaps in Week 5.
The Rams’ receiving corps has been a revolving door of ineffective players behind Nacua and Adams. Mumpfield, Tutu Atwell and Jordan Whittington have all played WR3-type snaps this season, but none has had a meaningful impact in fantasy. Mumpfield leads that group with eight catches for 127 yards, and 78 of those yards came on three consecutive plays against the Broncos.
Atwell has three catches for 31 yards and Whittington has two for 12.
Non-Rams WRs to consider adding
Your better option is to add a non-Rams wide receiver off waivers. There are likely some quality ones available, too. Omar Cooper Jr. burst onto the scene with six catches for 103 yards and a touchdown against the Patriots last week.
Treylon Burks stepped up on Monday night after Terry McLaurin went down, catching four passes for 66 yards in the loss. Jaylin Noel has scored touchdowns in consecutive weeks and put up 107 yards on four catches against the Jaguars on Sunday morning in London.
Germie Bernard has become a starter for the Steelers alongside DK Metcalf, catching six passes for 80 yards in Week 5 and 11 passes for 87 yards with one touchdown in Week 6. He should be a priority addition if he’s still available.
No one on the Rams will replace Adams’ production, and it’s unlikely anyone on the fantasy waiver wire will do that for your team, either. But there are options available and worth considering.
