A Congolese national facing charges in a Ksh10 billion gold scam case has been arraigned over allegations of obtaining and using a fraudulent Kenyan passport.
Prosecutors accused him of making a document without authority, uttering a false document and giving misleading information to a public officer.
The suspect appeared before the Kibera Law Courts on October 14 where he denied three three charges linked to the travel document.
The charges followed his arrest at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on October 13 as he prepared to travel to Entebbe, Uganda.

Investigators alleged that he was travelling using a Kenyan passport issued under another name when immigration officers intercepted him.
The passport case adds to legal scrutiny in a separate gold scam matter pending before the same court.
Court records indicated that he previously missed several hearings, with his lawyer providing medical documents to explain his absence.
In December 2025, the court revised his bond conditions and directed him to surrender his Congolese passport, while immigration authorities were instructed to restrict his travel.
Following his latest arrest, investigators sought his travel records, the paperwork supporting his Kenyan passport application and biometric verification to establish his identity.
Investigators reported that immigration records showed the passport was issued on November 16, 2017, although the application documents indicated that it had been requested as a replacement for a lost passport.
The discrepancy has prompted further inquiries into how the document was obtained, while the allegations in both the passport and gold scam cases remain subject to determination by the courts.
The matter was postponed to Thursday, October 15, to allow the defence to make submissions on bail and bond terms, with the accused held at Industrial Area Prison pending the hearing.
