Lexie Hull’s mom, Jaime Hull, wrote a heartfelt message to the Indiana Fever guard after posting a recap of her fifth season with the franchise on Instagram on Monday. Hull underperformed as a starter, averaging 5.2 points and 3.0 rebounds. Her stats were inferior to the previous season, when she averaged 7.2 ppg and 4.3 rpg.
Hull’s 3-point percentage also dropped to 33.7%. In 2024, she shot 47.1%, and in 2025, she shot 36.7%. Hull faced backlash from the Fever fans after she failed to deliver consistently. However, she received support during this rough year. Here’s what Hull’s mom wrote:
“Proud of you Lexie! You amaze me everyday. You have stayed positive and persevered through everything that has been thrown your way over the last 5 years! I know every moment you have learned something and those lessons are only going to make you that much tougher! Keep up the fight for everything that’s important to you. 5 years down and many more to come! “Every team needs a Lexie…” 😘😘😘”
Hull returned to the Fever last offseason after signing a two-year, $1.6 million contract (via Spotrac). She’s one of their protected players in the expansion draft. However, questions will arise about Hull’s future in Indiana.
The Fever have a surplus of undersized guards and need more frontcourt depth. Hull plays bigger than she is but was less effective last season because of her offensive struggles. Indiana might consider trading her next offseason to improve its frontcourt.
Hull’s contract, combined with other small-salaried players and picks, can help the Fever land a top-tier role player or a borderline All-Star to join Aliyah Boston in the post.
Three frontcourt players the Fever can target with Lexie Hull as a centerpiece
The Fever will likely be one of the most active teams in the 2027 offseason. Their best option will be to find trade candidates. Assuming Lexie Hull is one of the trade centerpieces, Indiana could move for three top frontcourt players.
A more realistic option would be Dearica Hamby, who could be available. The Sparks are looking to get younger again after trading Kelsey Plum at the deadline. Hamby, 32, is under contract for another three years and wouldn’t fit LA’s timeline. She averaged 14.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.5 steals in 2026, shooting 55.2% from the field.
A more expensive option would be Shakira Austin. She’s been a core piece of the Mystics, but if Washington is ready to make her available, the Fever could engage in trade talks. Austin averaged 17.0 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 2.6 apg, and 1.2 bpg, shooting 48.3%.
A dream target for the Fever would be Breanna Stewart. The Liberty star single-handedly took on the Dream in New York’s 0-3 semi-final loss. New York may have hit its ceiling, and if Stewart demands a trade, Indiana would make a lot of sense as a landing spot.
Stewart averaged 20.8 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.4 spg and 1.3 bpg while shooting 47.4% in the regular season. In the playoffs, Stewart tallied 27.0 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.0 apg, 1.8 spg and 2.2 bpg.
