BAMBA-enlisted band ABOUT DARK has released its latest song, "Nirakar," exploring the suppression of freedom of expression, human rights, and individual identity.
The band celebrated the release with a listening party in Moghbazar, Dhaka, on 17 October, bringing together more than 80 guests from different generations of Bangladesh's rock music scene.
Attendees included Kazi Asheqeen Shaju of Artcell, Suharto of Arbovirus, Bakhtiar Hossain, Samir Hafiz of Warfaze, former ABOUT DARK members Farshid Alam and Syed Reza Ali, and award-winning sound engineer Shafiq. Rock writers and journalists Milu Aman and Haque Faruque, Vikings founding guitarist Asad, and Riaz Ahmed of Havit Bangladesh also attended.
Representatives of bands and projects including Warsite, Naive, Zagforth, SELF PORTRAIT, Crunch, Prisoners, Messianic Era, Connected, Rockaphobic, Aynus Moholla, Mechanix, Blue Jeans, Fantasy Realm, Secret Society, and Kaizen joined the gathering. Shahriar Hasan of Musicians Master Class and guitarists Faruque Hossain Shuvo and Rakibul Nipu represented the younger generation.
ABOUT DARK founder and guitarist Nasir Ullah Chutti said, "'Nirakar' is against the erosion of freedom of speech worldwide. It tells the story of an individual representing those stripped of their right to speak, transformed into something amorphous—hence the song's title."
Bassist Adnan Ahmed Feroz expressed excitement about the song's bassline, adding that more releases are planned. The band is rehearsing regularly and remains open to live shows.
BAMBA President Hamin Ahmed praised the song's lyrics and production, while General Secretary Shakib Chowdhury highlighted its guitar and bass work and protest-driven spirit. Assistant General Secretary Shaju praised the drums, groove, and rhythm. Warfaze guitarist Samir Hafiz particularly enjoyed the guitar solo, listening to it several times during the event.
Formed in 2016, ABOUT DARK has released "Kon Mohe" (2018), "Tumi" (2019), "Kalo Manush" (2019), and "Line" (2025). The band joined BAMBA in 2021.
Its lineup comprises vocalist Moon, guitarists Nasir Ullah Chutti and Arfan Ahmed Purno, bassist Adnan Ahmed Feroz, and drummer Zakir.
"Nirakar" is available on the band's official YouTube channel and streaming platforms, including Spotify.
