"On this first anniversary of Raila Odinga's passing, I reflect on his belief in giving young people a chance to discover their abilities and grow into leadership. I share that conviction because our youth have ideas, talent and ambition that deserve to be nurtured. In honoring Baba, we must create more opportunities for our youth to contribute meaningfully to society. May Jakom's legacy live on," Kagure said.
Honouring Raila's legacy
Her remarks framed youth empowerment as the most fitting way to honour the late politician's memory, calling on the public to move beyond remembrance and take concrete action in creating platforms for young Kenyans.
Raila Odinga, widely referred to by his supporters as "Baba" and "Jakom," was one of Kenya's most prominent and enduring political figures, serving multiple terms as a Member of Parliament and holding the office of Prime Minister between 2008 and 2013.
