DMRC told the Supreme Court that Metro trains ran throughout the October 10 protest. Limited station access restrictions reflected police directions rather than a network shutdown.

Delhi Metro services were neither curtailed nor cancelled during the recent protests in the national capital, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation told the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
The DMRC said entry and exit were restricted at 45 of its 303 stations, while more than 85 per cent of the network remained fully operational and accessible to commuters.
In an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, the corporation said the restrictions covered only 15 per cent of the network. Entry and exit were regulated following an assessment by law enforcement agencies and in accordance with their directions.
"The actual number of passengers who boarded the metro on October 10, 2026 was 32 lakh approx, as against approximately 58 lakh passengers on a normal second Saturday," the DMRC said.
The corporation filed the compliance report following the Supreme Court's October 9 order.
The court was hearing a plea against the closure of several metro stations and the cancellation of trains to Delhi in view of the October 10 protest. It had directed the Centre to ensure that there was no "complete prohibition" on the movement of metro services and trains coming to Delhi.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant had also directed the DMRC and others to file compliance affidavits.
The protest was called by the Cockroach Janta Party and some student organisations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the functioning of the Election Commission.
In its report, the DMRC reiterated that train services continued during the protest and that restrictions were limited to entry and exit at 45 stations based on the directions of law enforcement agencies.
