LG Chem (051910.KS) is accelerating its push into global markets, showcasing UNICUBLE, an ultra-thin packaging film it says is the thinnest of its kind in the world, in Japan.
The company said on the 13th that it will take part in Tokyo Pack 2026, which runs from the 14th to the 16th in Japan.
Tokyo Pack is Asia's largest packaging trade show, covering the industry's entire value chain from consumer packaging materials and containers to processing equipment and logistics and recycling solutions. About 730 companies are taking part this year, with more than 70,000 visitors expected.
Under the theme "Innovation in Materials, Value in Daily Life," LG Chem will present UNICUBLE, an ultra-thin packaging film material measuring 12 micrometers thick — the thinnest among single-material films worldwide — along with examples of its use in products. UNICUBLE matches the physical properties of conventional multi-material packaging films while using a single polyethylene material, making it easier to recycle. Combining sustainability with high performance, it is already used in packaging for food, pet food and household goods.
LG Chem has designed its booth around an "LG Chem Packaging House" concept, dividing packaging solutions that consumers encounter in daily life into three spaces: Living, Kitchen and Care. The company will highlight UNICUBLE packaging developed with Crown Confectionery and applied to major snack and candy products. Through these examples, it plans to underscore its ability to deliver customized packaging solutions spanning material development through commercialization.
The company will also run a technical consulting area within the booth to respond to customers' technical requirements and identify opportunities for new material applications, as it seeks to expand its business in Japan and across Asia.
"This Tokyo Pack exhibition is an occasion to show how the actual commercialization of single-material packaging translates into customer value," said Lee Chung-hoon, a vice president at LG Chem. "Going beyond supplying materials, we will lead change in the market as a partner driving the shift to sustainable packaging."
