BUSAN — The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority said on the 22nd that it had been named a global leader in the investor aftercare category of the 2026 Global Free Zones of the Year awards, selected by fDi Intelligence, an investment research arm of Britain's Financial Times.
The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone was listed alongside the Jebel Ali Free Zone in the United Arab Emirates. The authority drew praise for policies that go beyond attracting new companies to support tenant firms in settling in, growing, reinvesting and expanding their operations.
In an assessment published on the 15th of this month, fDi Intelligence highlighted the zone's corporate support activities as a best-practice case. It commended the systematic operation of regular satisfaction surveys, one-on-one consultations with individual companies, meetings with chief executives, industry-specific forums and a dedicated aftercare program.
Also reflected in the assessment was the authority's approach of measuring the results of corporate support not merely by the number of consultations or grievances resolved, but by tenant companies' reinvestment and business expansion and their willingness to recommend the zone to prospective investors.
"This recognizes our standing as a business-friendly free economic zone that does not stop at attracting companies but also underpins their stable growth and reinvestment," said Park Sung-ho, commissioner of the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority. "We will link future logistics infrastructure such as Busan New Port, Jinhae New Port and Gadeokdo New Airport to develop the zone into a world-class investment hub."
