- Dismissed Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria alleged that Governor Johnson Sakaja is preparing a court case to have him jailed
- Mosiria claimed his effective dismissal came on December 28, 2023, when Sakaja stripped him of his powers as an accounting officer through an unprocedural memo
- The former official linked his sacking to his refusal to participate in direct procurement that favoured people close to the governor
Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has alleged that Governor Johnson Sakaja is building a court case intended to frame and imprison him, making the claim in a formal statement issued after his dismissal was confirmed.
Mosiria said the allegation was based on information he had received, though he offered no supporting evidence.
"Lastly I have information that you are preparing a court case to fix and jail me. I hope Nairobi people know who belongs to jail and who should serve them," he said, addressing Sakaja directly in the statement.
Mosiria's Allegations Against Sakaja
The former official said his troubles with the governor began long before the formal sacking was announced.
He argued that Sakaja had effectively removed him from his role on December 28, 2023, when the governor issued a memo stripping him of his mandate as an accounting officer and reassigning those powers to junior officers.

Following that, he said, the health budget under his docket was slashed from KSh 1.2 billion to KSh 100 million, leaving him with insufficient resources to function.
Mosiria tied this sequence of events to his refusal to participate in what he described as direct procurement arrangements favouring contractors and individuals close to the governor.
He claimed the dispute escalated during a WhatsApp conference call in which Sakaja confronted him in the presence of the governor's chief of staff, Osman Khalifa.
"Thank you, my boss, for making my sacking official. However, what you forgot to tell Nairobi residents and Kenyans is that you effectively dismissed me on 28th December 2023, when you took away my constitutionally assigned mandate as an Accounting Officer," Mosiria said.
He also connected the framing allegation to a previous contempt of court case that he claimed had been orchestrated to push him out of office, saying it nearly resulted in a six-month jail term.
He said that after raising concerns about that case, he was transferred to the customer service docket.
Mosiria's Political Ambitions and Background
Mosiria built his public profile while serving as Chief Officer for Environment, where he led enforcement operations against illegal dumpsites and businesses breaching noise and environmental regulations. In a reshuffle announced on November 18, Sakaja moved him from the Environment docket to Citizen Engagement and Customer Service.
On October 5, Mosiria declared his interest in contesting the Nairobi governorship, saying he would run if former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and former governor Mike Sonko persuaded him to do so.
He has publicly accused Sakaja of mismanaging the county, stating that both Sonko and former governor Evans Kidero performed better in the role.
Sakaja, who won the 2022 governorship on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, is seeking a second term. He faces a growing field of challengers, including Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Embakasi North MP James Gakuya.
