Daughters of late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have announced plans to become more actively involved in the Nigerian film industry, pledging to sustain their father’s legacy.
The sisters, Taiwo Halima Olamide, also known as Lima Ogogo, and Shakirat Taiwo, popularly called Kira Ogogo, made the announcement in an appreciation video shared on Instagram.
In the video sighted on Friday, the sisters expressed gratitude to fans, public figures and well-wishers who supported their family following their father’s death in August 2026.
“You guys loved our daddy so much. This is an appreciation video to tell you people thank you,” they said.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Lima added: “On behalf of my family and I, we want to say thank you very much to everybody who stood by us.”
The sisters acknowledged the support they received from prominent figures, including Honourable Tayo Ayinde, Nigeria’s First Lady, the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and the Olu of Ilaro.
They also appreciated the numerous condolence messages and expressions of sympathy received by the family during their period of mourning.
Beyond expressing their gratitude, the sisters disclosed their intention to pursue careers in the entertainment industry, urging fans who loved their father’s movies to support their forthcoming projects.
Lima said their entry into Nollywood would allow audiences to continue experiencing their father’s legacy through their work.
“We are going to start seeing Ogogo through my sister Kira Ogogo. We are coming to the industry, and we’re here to stay,” she said.
The sisters encouraged supporters to watch, share and promote their upcoming films and other content, particularly on Kira Ogogo’s YouTube channel, KiraOgogoTV.
Ogogo was a respected figure in Yoruba cinema, known for his calm and authoritative screen presence.
He died on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, following a battle with stage-four cancer. He was buried the following day in Ilaro, Ogun State, according to Islamic rites.
His death prompted widespread tributes from colleagues, fans and other members of the entertainment industry.
The announcement by his daughters signals their intention to build their own careers while keeping their father’s name and contribution to Nigerian cinema alive for a new generation of audiences.
