How about it, folks? The Milwaukee Brewers are going to the World Series for the first time since 1982!
It has been a long and arduous road for the franchise and their fans. Back in the early 1980’s, the Brewers had five future Hall of Fame players on their roster, and it looked like they would be a force in baseball for years to come. What followed, however, was a 26-year postseason drought that was finally snapped in 2008.
And now, in 2026, 44 years later, Milwaukee finally has made it back to the Fall Classic.
Brandon Woodruff sure would like to be on the mound for it, too.
Brandon Woodruff says it will be hard to keep him off the Milwaukee Brewers World Series roster
On Thursday night, the Brewers found themselves trailing 4-0 early in Game Four of the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. As they did in every game prior, though, Milwaukee clawed its way back and clinched their first ever National League pennant by scoring six unanswered runs, capped off by a solo home run from light-hitting infielder David Hamilton.
The Brewers will have a week off before Game One of the World Series is played at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. That gives them plenty of time to rest and set their roster for what very well could be the biggest postseason series in franchise history.
Woodruff, the two-time All-Star starting pitcher who has battled major shoulder injuries over the last few years, has been working hard on getting healthy enough to make a hopeful return to the mound in the event his team made it to the World Series.
And now that they have, he wants the ball.
Is Brandon Woodruff going to pitch in the World Series? Let the man answer for himself. https://t.co/qXJUot4h28

When asked by Curt Hogg if he will pitch in the World Series, Woodruff said, “It’s going to be hard to keep me off that roster. I’m going to do everything. I’m in a good spot and it means a lot to me, so, you know, we’ll have those conversations in the next few days. It’s going to be pretty big for me.
“I need to [face some live hitters] and now that we have some time here, it’s good. I’ve always believed in myself, and it doesn’t matter if I’m throwing one pitch in two months or ten rehab outings, I don’t care. I feel like I can go out there and do it and I hope I get that opportunity.”
In nine starts this season, Woodruff was 2-2 with a 2.98 ERA and 0.83 WHIP. When he is healthy, there is no question that he is one of the best pitchers in baseball. The problem has been that his shoulder has no cooperated.
Maybe, just maybe, a little October magic will bring him back to the mound for another dominating appearance in a Brewers uniform.
