Undone by a solitary goal in Dortmund this evening, Robin Koch confessed Eintracht Frankurt emptied the tank but came up short.
“We tried everything, but conceded at a point when we weren't able to relieve the pressure enough and Dortmund had us pinned back.
“The game might have turned out differently if we'd scored in the first half,” Frankfurt's skipper said in his post-match interview. –
"We gave everything and wanted to show the same superb commitment and mentality we displayed against Köln.
"This time away from home against one of the best teams in Germany we came up short despite a strong performance.
“With a bit of luck, we could have come away with a 0-0 draw or even scored ourselves,” the German central defender added.
The Hessen club now face a daunting trip to Hamburger SV next Tuesday evening in the second round of the DFB-Pokal.
