Kansas State's injury problems at quarterback have been so bad this year that even its running backs who line up behind center are getting hurt.
Joe Jackson, who took his first snap as a Wildcat-formation quarterback, was slow to get up for Kansas State with 14:12 remaining in the first half at Arizona State.
The run up the middle was Jackson's fourth carry of the game. Rodney Fields has received the majority of the carries while Jacob Knuth makes his first start at quarterback.
K-State already entered the game without starting QB Avery Johnson, who was ruled out ahead of the game due to an injury he sustained in last week's win over Kansas. Every backup has been injured at one point or another this year.
The Wildcats had to punt a few plays after Jackson left the game for the injury tent. K-State trailed 14-7 after scoring on its first drive. It's punted all three drives since.
