Nollywood actor and comedian Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has recounted how a stray bullet injury kept him away from work for months, leaving him uncertain about his future in entertainment and afraid that fans might forget him.
In a YouTube video uploaded on Wednesday night, the comedian narrated his experience, confirming PUNCH Online’s earlier exclusive report of the incident.
PUNCH Online reported in March 2026 that the incident happened on a Sunday afternoon while Shaggi was filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge.
While the circumstances surrounding the incident remained sketchy, a police source, who requested anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, said the social media influencer sustained a gunshot injury.
The Ogun State Police Command, however, stated that it could not confirm whether the incident occurred within the state.
In a brief statement sent to the media, the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information while the investigation continued.
Recounting the incident, Shaggi said he was on a routine brand activation assignment when he was shot by a stray bullet.

He said he was overwhelmed by fear as he saw blood and waited for medical attention.
“I was totally unconscious till I got to the hospital. So, I didn’t even know how we got to the hospital. But one thing I could remember was me praying till we got to the first hospital where first aid was administered,” he said.
Describing his condition at the time, he said, “A lot was happening at the same time. I was sweating. I was holding my leg, you know, I was seeing blood and all I wanted to hear was a doctor or a nurse telling me Samuel, you’ll be fine.”
The comedian said the injury made him worry about whether he would be able to continue his career, particularly because dancing and other physical performances were important parts of his work.
He recalled thinking about how he would continue dancing, singing and playing the drums if he could no longer use his leg.
Shaggi said he had maintained a demanding work schedule for years before the incident.
“Since 2018 till date I never rest. It’s always back to back. If I’m not writing I’m shooting. If I’m not shooting, I’m in the studio making music. If I’m not making music, I’m travelling for something,” he said.
He explained that being away from work for an extended period made him fear that audiences might forget him.
Shaggi said he tried to keep himself occupied during his hospitalisation by writing and starting a YouTube series, even as he worried about his future in entertainment.
“There were moments where I would see videos of my colleagues. I would laugh and sometimes I would just start to cry because I wasn’t sure if I would still be able to do all these things they doing again,” he said.
He said watching his colleagues continue to work and entertain audiences was emotional because he did not know whether he would recover enough to do the same.
The actor said he underwent surgery in Nigeria but was told he would need further treatment and physiotherapy. After about four months, he decided to seek treatment in Dubai.
According to him, his recovery progressed quickly after the operation in Dubai. He said he was able to stand with support on the second day and walk with crutches on the third day.
Reflecting on the incident, Shaggi said he was grateful the bullet had not struck a more vital part of his body.
“It was a stray bullet and it came this way to my hip. What if it had come this way and hit my head or hit any vital organ?” he said.
Giving an update on his condition, he said he could now stand without crutches but still needed them for support.
“I’m still using my crutches for now. But there was a period where I couldn’t move without the two crutches. I couldn’t even put my leg on the floor, you know. But now I can walk. I can stand alone without crutches, but I still have to support with the crutches,” he said.
Expressing gratitude for surviving the incident, the comedian described his recovery as a second chance and promised fans new projects.
“I’m grateful to be alive. It’s second chance. You should also be grateful to have Shaggy back on your screen because right now I’m coming with exciting projects,” he said.
He urged his followers to look forward to his return, saying he had several projects lined up.
