Anna Yu will once again be a high school girls tennis all-stater.
The Dunlap junior will play for a spot in the fifth-place match at the Class 2A state finals on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Buffalo Grove High School. She won three matches on Friday, Oct. 23 to guarantee her a top-8 finish, and another all-state placement.
Yu is set to face New Trier junior Ingrid Fielder in the consolation semis at 8 a.m. Saturday. Fielder already holds a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Yu from the third round of the championship bracket. In the consolation quarterfinals, Yu beat Barrington junior Enya Neagu 6-3, 6-3 after taking out Highland Park freshman Maya Keller 6-2, 6-4 in the fifth round of the consolation bracket.
As the two-time reigning Journal Star Player of the Year, Yu was the Class 1A state runner-up last season.
Dunlap is 15th in the team race heading into Saturday's final day in the program's first run in Class 2A.
The Eagles finished second in the state in Class 1A last season.
Peoria Notre Dame junior Madelyn Couri bowed out in the fourth round of consolation bracket, losing to Carterville senior Kara Moore 6-4, 6-1.
