A serving police officer booked on charges of assaulting another parent is also under investigation for leaking data related to 112 emergency calls, authorities said.
Seoul's Gwanak Police Station said on the 23rd that it is investigating a man in his 30s, identified only as A, a serving officer with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, on suspicion of violating the Personal Information Protection Act. Police said they are looking into the circumstances of the case in detail.
A is suspected of leaking data on 112 emergency call dispatches to an acquaintance through social media around January this year. The leaked material is not believed to have constituted investigative information or official secrets.
A was booked by the Gwacheon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province on suspicion of striking the neck of B, another parent and a man in his 30s, near a daycare center inside an apartment complex in Gwacheon on the 9th of last month.
