Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Accra East Region, has honoured selected domestic and commercial customers for consistently paying their water bills promptly, and urged other consumers to meet their obligations to help sustain reliable water supply services.
The exercise, held as part of the company’s October Customer Service Month celebration on the theme: ‘Going the Extra Mile for You,’ involved visits to selected customers to recognise their loyalty and appreciate their contribution to the utility’s operations.
The Chief Manager of GWL’s Accra East Region, Mr Richard Appiah Otoo, said prompt payment of water bills was essential to generating the revenue needed to maintain infrastructure and provide reliable services to consumers.
He noted that the customer appreciation initiative was intended to strengthen relations between the company and its customers by recognising those who consistently met their payment obligations.
Mr Otoo encouraged consumers to pay their bills promptly through available channels, including mobile money, digital payment merchants and the company’s official customer application.
On debt recovery, he emphasised that the company followed a graduated process to address outstanding bills, beginning with SMS reminders and follow-up telephone calls before resorting to disconnection as a last measure.
At The Palms by Eagles Hotel, the General Manager, Mr Delali Gaisie, expressed appreciation to GWL for the recognition and reaffirmed the hotel’s commitment to maintaining a good relationship with the utility.
He said water was essential to the hotel’s operations and thanked GWL for acknowledging its contribution.
Mr Gaisie mentioned that the hotel remained committed to delivering five-star hospitality through its location, ambience and quality of service.
At Melcom’s Spintex branch, the Group General Manager, Mr Francis Sam, also thanked GWL for the recognition and encouraged other businesses to pay their water bills promptly to support the company’s operations and service delivery.
At La, Ms Ernestina Sam, another customer recognised by GWL, expressed delight at the gesture and thanked the Accra East Region for acknowledging her contribution.
She urged consumers who did not pay their water bills regularly to do so, stressing that meeting their obligations was important to sustaining water supply services.
The GWL team also visited the residence of Mr William Ablorh Agyei in the La PRESEC area. He expressed appreciation to the company and encouraged other water users to pay their bills promptly.
At Vanguard Heights, representatives of domestic consumers received souvenirs in recognition of their continued support for the company.
The items presented included branded T-shirts, caps, wall clocks, bottled water and other promotional materials. Melcom received 10 packs of bottled water, while five packs were presented at Vanguard Heights.
