BRAN will begin collecting land data and developing an agrarian reform system to establish which locations are available..
Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Agrarian Reform Agency (BRAN) Head Dedi Prasetyo said the agency would fully support the Housing and Settlement Areas Ministry's housing program by identifying and recording land available for development.
"As the new head of the Agrarian Reform Agency, we will of course pay attention to the information conveyed by the minister (Maruarar Sirait) and his team regarding land issues," Prasetyo said during a meeting with ministry officials here on Tuesday.
He said the meeting was an initial step toward mapping agrarian issues within the ministry's scope. Once BRAN receives information about land problems affecting housing development, the agency will work to resolve them, he added.
In the near future, BRAN will begin collecting land data and developing an agrarian reform system to establish which locations are available for various housing development in support of the government's 3 million homes program.
"The first is a one-data agrarian reform system. This is important because it provides certainty, including for the Housing Ministry, about which locations can be developed for subsidized and non-subsidized housing, helping align land availability with the 3 million homes target," he said.
Previously, Housing and Settlement Areas Minister Maruarar Sirait asked BRAN to provide certainty on land issues to ensure that housing development proceeds in accordance with existing regulations.
"Basically, it is just about certainty," Sirait said after meeting with Prasetyo.
Sirait said agrarian issues must be resolved promptly and provided with legal certainty to prevent prolonged conflicts.
He said regional authorities must be able to map the designated uses of available land, including areas intended for rice fields, housing, and energy development.
Such planning, he added, would help prevent future problems that could disrupt investment or government programs, including efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency.
