How businesses are simplifying their banking with Equity Online for Business #AD

As more Kenyan businesses embrace digital ways of working, the value of digital banking goes beyond simply being able to transact online.

From paying suppliers and making local and international transfers to managing cash flow and integrating banking with existing business systems, businesses require tools that can keep pace with their operations.

Traditionally, businesses have relied on a combination of branch visits, paperwork, manual instructions and multiple systems to manage their banking. Digital banking is changing this.

With Equity Online for Business, authorized users can initiate, review and approve transactions remotely, reducing the time spent on routine banking activities. A business owner travelling outside Nairobi, for example, can manage banking activities without having to visit a branch.

The result is greater convenience and more time for businesses to focus on their customers and core operations.

Equity Online for Business is designed to meet the need of businesses by bringing a range of banking services together on one digital platform, giving SMEs, corporates, institutions and agribusinesses greater flexibility in managing their financial activities.

Equity's wider digital transformation reflects the growing role of digital channels in banking. In the first quarter of 2026, 89.5% of customer transactions were processed through digital platforms, demonstrating the shift towards digital banking.

What is Equity Online for Business?

Equity Online for Business is Equity’s digital banking platform designed specifically for businesses. It brings together account management, payments, approvals and other financial management capabilities in one platform.

The platform meets businesses’ need for convenient, accessible banking integrated into their day-to-day operations, reducing reliance on manual processes and branch visits while enabling business owners and finance teams to manage their finances remotely.

How does Equity Online for Business support SMEs and larger businesses?

An SME may need accessible digital banking and a convenient way to manage transactions, while a large corporate may require multiple users, complex approval structures and integration with its internal financial systems.

Equity Online for Business provides a platform that can accommodate these different needs, allowing businesses to use services relevant to their operations while providing room to grow as their requirements evolve.

The platform is also relevant to organizations such as schools, NGOs, religious institutions, and businesses operating within agricultural value chains.

For agribusinesses, where operations can span farms, processors, suppliers, distributors and markets, the ability to manage payments and monitor accounts remotely can help reduce administrative delays.

For institutions handling regular payments to staff, suppliers, and beneficiaries, digital banking can simplify financial administration and make it easier to manage transactions across their operations.

What are some of the key features of Equity Online for Business?

One of the key capabilities is payments management. Businesses can make transfers to other banks and mobile wallets, manage recurring payments and facilitate international transactions from a single platform.

For businesses handling transactions across different banks and payment channels, this provides a way to manage payments beyond the Equity ecosystem.

The platform also provides access to account balances, transaction information and detailed statements, giving businesses visibility into their financial position.

For organizations with multiple decision makers, user access controls and approval workflows enable businesses to assign responsibilities according to their internal structures.

Does a business need an Equity account to use Equity Online for Business?

Yes. Businesses using Equity Online for Business require an Equity business operating account, which provides the source of funds for transactions conducted through the platform.

However, businesses can make payments beyond the Equity ecosystem, including transfers to accounts held at other banks and mobile wallets, making the platform useful for those dealing with diverse suppliers, employees, customers and partners.

Can businesses access Equity Online for Business remotely?

Yes. Equity Online for Business is designed to support businesses that operate across different locations and require flexibility in how they manage their finances.

Businesses can access digital banking services through web and mobile channels, while larger organizations can use API and Host-to-Host connectivity to integrate banking with their accounting, enterprise resource planning and other business systems.

This connectivity can help automate processes and improve reconciliation, particularly for organizations handling high transaction volumes. By connecting banking with existing business systems, organizations can reduce the need to move information manually between platforms.

How Does Equity Online for Business Keep Business Banking Secure?

Equity Online for Business incorporates authentication, user access controls and approval workflows to help businesses maintain control over their financial activities.

Role-based access also allows organizations to determine what different users can initiate, approve or access, supporting stronger internal controls.
