BUSAN — The region's largest financial festival opens this week, aiming to sharpen residents' asset management skills, raise financial literacy among younger generations and widen local companies' access to capital markets.
The Busan Metropolitan Government will host Busan Finance Week 2026 on Oct. 16-17 on the first floor of the BEXCO Convention Hall. The event features 38 seminars, education sessions and recruitment programs, all open to the public free of charge.
The biggest change this year is a sharp expansion of financial education designed for children, teenagers and young adults. Family programs will let parents and children build basic economic concepts through hands-on activities such as board games, while young adults will receive introductory asset management training along with job consulting and recruitment briefings from financial firms.
The lineup also reflects strong public interest in practical investing and new financial technology. Seminars will cover domestic and global economic outlooks as well as investment strategies for stocks, real estate, pensions and gold. Hands-on fintech training using artificial intelligence will debut this year.
Business-to-business support for local companies and startups is also extensive. The city will offer a corporate value-up program, guidance on listing procedures for the KOSDAQ and KONEX markets, a practical guide to initial public offerings, and seminars on startup and growth strategies, along with close networking with financial institutions to help firms raise capital and expand.
"This year's Busan Finance Week has strengthened its hands-on and educational functions so that younger generations in particular can approach finance easily and build a foundation for economic independence," Mayor Jeon Jae-soo said. "I hope families, young people and business leaders will use it as a chance to read the latest financial trends and seize new opportunities."
