KUALA LUMPUR: Pas should have adhered to the Perikatan Nasional constitution from the outset to prevent coalition administrative disputes from escalating to court and the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
Bersatu information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said Pas, as PN chairman and administrator, must conduct coalition affairs according to regulations and execute PN Supreme Council decisions faithfully without delay.
He said the issue would not have dragged on had non-Supreme Council Pas leaders not breached council decisions or conducted negotiations behind its back.
"Pas should not act unilaterally in violation of the PN constitution because this country has laws, and the coalition is governed by its own constitution and rules," he said in a statement today.
Commenting on yesterday's court decision, Tun Faisal said the stay order did not determine whether the RoS decision was wrong, nor did it prove that Pas had not violated the coalition constitution or oppressed Bersatu.
Yesterday, the High Court granted a stay on the RoS notice, allowing PN to proceed with its Melaka election preparations using its name and logo.
The decision by Judge Datuk Azizan Md Arshad enables PN to continue political activities pending the disposal of its judicial review, clearing the path ahead of nomination day on Oct 31 and polling on Nov 14.
Previously, PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan reportedly said the coalition would hold a meeting soon following the High Court ruling.
