Vice-President Kashim Shettima has inaugurated the state-of-the-art Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital and mega schools constructed by the administration of Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno.
The projects, located in different parts of the state, are aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery, expanding access to quality education and improving the living conditions of residents.
Speaking at the inauguration on Friday in Maiduguri, Shettima reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that improve healthcare services, promote education and protect the welfare of children.
He commended Zulum’s vision and commitment to human capital development, particularly his administration’s investments in healthcare and education.
The Vice-President said the establishment of specialised healthcare facilities, including those providing cancer treatment would help reduce the financial and emotional burdens faced by patients and their families.
He emphasised that a healthy and well-educated population was essential for economic growth and national development.
Shettima also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Federal and state governments in advancing healthcare delivery and humanitarian interventions.
He commended healthcare workers, development partners, traditional rulers and community leaders for their contributions to the implementation of the projects.
The Vice-President assured that the Federal Government would continue to support initiatives aimed at consolidating peace, creating opportunities and improving people’s welfare.
In his remarks, Zulum said the teaching hospital would strengthen the state’s healthcare infrastructure and improve access to specialised medical services.
He added that the facility would contribute to training medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, medical laboratory scientists and other healthcare workers needed to improve service delivery.
The governor said investments in healthcare, education and critical infrastructure remained central to his administration’s reconstruction and development agenda.
The inauguration of the teaching hospital and mega schools represents part of ongoing efforts to rebuild public infrastructure, restore essential services and strengthen human capital development in Borno following years of insurgency.
The projects are also expected to support long-term recovery by improving access to healthcare and educational opportunities across the state.
