VICE PRESIDENT Sara Duterte has dismissed the ongoing investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) into the alleged discrepancy between her assets and her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN), while pointing to the administrative attacks and impeachment case as part of politics focused on the 2028 presidential elections.
Duterte could only sigh when asked to respond to NBI director Melvin Matibag’s revelations in a press conference on Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, about several alleged properties that did not match the description in her SALN.
Duterte insisted that the impeachment case against him was rigged and is currently “falling apart,” so his critics are rushing to find and invent other issues.
“You know, I just noticed that they are just wiping out everything illegal from me. What was the first one? Confidential funds, corruption… now they have China funds, from China. Now there is ill-gotten wealth,” Duterte said.
According to the Vice President, her rivals are doing everything they can to destroy his reputation before the next election.
“They want to end the impeachment of their prosecution because the case is falling apart, so the story is changing… Everything was done by ‘I’ – supposedly’ and they will do everything to, as I said, bring me down. Because this is about the 2028 elections,” Duterte insisted.
The Vice President also warned the public about the alleged orchestration of the House and the administration aimed at changing the system of government.
“I also said this in my statement the other day: this is impeachment, secondly this is Charter Change, and thirdly this is ‘no elections’ (No-El). So I’m warning you, it’s been a long time. It’s not just obvious that’s what they’re doing because they’re doing it one by one or so-called by steps,” the Vice President concluded.
