Zinédine Zidane handed a debut to Esteban Lepaul during the most recent international break. The Stade Rennais forward struggled somewhat and now Stade Brestois manager Julien Lachuer is lobbying for the France manager to test out another, more experienced centre-forward.
With Kylian Mbappé now back on the left and Ousmane Dembélé struggling to convince through the middle, there is an opportunity for someone to seize. And Lachuer believes that Ludovic Ajorque (32) should be given an opportunity. A striker in the mould of a certain Olivier Giroud, France’s second all-time top scorer, he has enjoyed a strong start to the season, netting twice. What he is known for, however, is his ability to bring others into the game.
Ajorque did that excellently when Brest beat SCO Angers 5-1 on Saturday. And speaking to Ligue 1 Plus post-match, Lachuer called for Zidane to give his striker a chance with Les Bleus.
“I will campaign for Ludo Ajorque [to get into] the France national team. In any case, he deserves it. You can’t settle for just playing matches for Brest or in Ligue 1. You have to have the ambition to get to the top,” said the Brest manager.
