The Italian brand is the go-to supplier for five-star- hotel gyms, ultra-wealthy clients’ homes, and the Olympics. Which is to say it is, undoubtedly, the leader in this space. It’s most recent release, the current crown jewel, is its Pilates reformer in this gorgeous Sand Stone color.
Honestly, this could be a one-brand story. Go to any luxury hotel—we do it all the time, new properties and the long-standing ones—and check out the gym; I’m willing to bet it’s stocked with Technogym. From treadmills, to squat cages, to the new reformer, Technogym is best-in-class. Since it has those high-end partnerships—the Olympics, Formula 1 teams and drivers, and Italian soccer clubs—I could make the “Ferrari of gym equipment joke,” but, well...it would be too on the nose.

The pinnacle of all NordicTrack’s various technologies. Everything—touchpoint materials, deck cushioning, deck lighting, and even the sound your feet make when you stride—is considered and designed to the highest degree.
Nike only just launched its gym-equipment lineup back in 2023. Where other companies lean toward cardio, Nike bets on the design-conscious strength training customer.
If you’re shopping weight-by-weight, it’s not exactly luxury as you might assume from the other options on this list. The Nike kettlebells look good, and they’re some of my favorite to swing—but they’re still just kettlebell. The luxury comes with the full gym setup, which takes the commercial model and makes it easy for an average consumer to put in an order. When it gets delivered and unboxed, the garage starts to look a little bit like wherever LeBron posts his workouts from.

Natural wood, genuine leather, and full in-house design and production in Poland. This past summer, Pent won a coveted Red Dot award for the design of its Pilates reformer.
Our pick of the bunch would be the manual treadmill. When it comes to actually mimicking the burn of running while staying stationary, it’s our favorite.
The Tonal has dominated as the smart home gym of record, and for good reason. It’s a fully immersive strength and cardio machine. The display is a real game-changer that turns “coaching” into more than just generalized tips. With Tonal, it’s all about form and making sure when you’re spending the time working out, that you’re doing it right. The on-screen trainer will suggest adjustments in real time and let you know when it might be time to adjust your weight load. This helps keep you safe, and at the same time proper form ensures you work the muscles you’re meant to be working.
It’s more affordable than some of this list, but it doesn’t come cheap. Between an annual subscription and some near-essential add-ons, the cost can start adding up quick, but the proof is in the results. Take our reviewer, who stopped going to the gym because of it and said “for a consumer who’s willing to spend, it’s the full-service replacement. More than any at-home fitness gadget, the Tonal makes working out markedly better—much more than lugging all your stuff to a crowded gym after work.”

In our 2026 home awards, we called this the best workout machine of the year. It’s no wonder. With its striking minimalist design, reasonable entry price, and free white-glove installation, there are plenty of valid reasons to go with Amp over these first two systems. You’ll still get real-time workout tracking and coaching, as well as a variety of included workouts ranging across all styles.
The accessory rack will only run you an extra $110 and adds enough variety on top of the core experience. If you get that, then you’ll really be able to go for weeks before you need to repeat any routines.
The newcomer, founded in New York in 2019, Ergatta focuses on U.S.A.-made cherrywood rowing machines that also showed up in this year’s home awards as our new favorite rower.
Ergatta is also big on gamifying rowing workouts, whether that’s via an immersive backdrop or an actual competition. What’s seriously cool is how you can compete in races online by asynchronously racing to beat others’ best times. There are even live races a few times a week that let you compete in real time. All of this with an Ergatta subscription of course.

Ok look, Joe Rogan bro-science aside, there is a very encouraging trend happening in the world of fitness currently. Recovery is being treated as seriously as the workout itself. Sleep is part of that, but the most one-to-one option for building out the gym is certainly a sauna—plus cold plunge if you are so inclined.
Our favorite maker in this space is Lit Method, who has a near-perfect combination of easy-to-use website, actual quality, and design-conscious look. If you have a corner of the space you can dedicate to recovery, we consider this as essential as any of the other stuff on this list.
