Haaland reveals Abu Dhabi home purchase with father as next-door neighbour

Erling Haaland is adding another luxury home to his growing real estate portfolio, but his latest purchase in Abu Dhabi has caught attention for more than just the location. The Manchester City striker has bought a property in the UAE alongside his father, Alf-Inge Haaland, at a time when the club is facing uncertainty over its financial case.

Could the move offer some reassurance to City supporters about Haaland’s future? While the purchase is no guarantee of his long-term commitment, it adds an intriguing new chapter to his growing property empire.

Haaland buys Abu Dhabi property with his father

Haaland, 26, revealed his new property purchase in a video shared by the developers, Ohana Development on X, announcing that he had joined the Manchester City Ohana project in Abu Dhabi. The development is a collaboration between Manchester City and UAE real estate company Ohana Residences, and his father, former City player Alf-Inge Haaland, has also purchased a home in the complex.“Hi everyone, I’m so happy because I’m joining the Manchester City Ohana project. We will be neighbours in Abu Dhabi…I just got a house and so did my father,” Haaland said.

The announcement came during an event at the Etihad Arena in the UAE to launch the collaboration. Alfie Haaland attended in person and made a surprise appearance on stage, while Pep Guardiola participated in a question-and-answer session. The event also featured one attendee, Mohammad Alkhatib, who won a property in a prize draw and was presented with its keys, making him a future neighbour of the Norwegian striker.

The exact property Haaland has purchased, including its layout and price, has not been disclosed, but prices within the upscale development run into the millions. A two-bedroom waterfront townhouse on Yas Island costs more than £770,000 (approximately $1 million), while estimates for the development’s premium custom estates range from more than £7.25 million to upwards of £7.52 million, equivalent to approximately $9.5 million to $9.9 million. The wider project places considerable emphasis on outdoor space, with more than half of its master plan dedicated to parks and greenery. Residents will also have access to a Manchester City Training Academy, a City Lounge and facilities for socialising, dining and recreation.

The development’s properties also exceed the UAE’s stated property-investment threshold for a 10-year Golden Visa, meaning qualifying homeowners can secure long-term residency in the country.

For Haaland, the purchase adds another Middle Eastern property to a growing real estate portfolio and links his personal investments to a club whose ownership has been associated with Abu Dhabi since 2008.

Manchester City’s financial verdict raises questions over Haaland’s future

The timing of the purchase has attracted attention because an independent commission found Manchester City guilty of 114 out of 115 Premier League financial and cooperation charges on September 29, 2026. City denied the allegations and filed a comprehensive appeal on October 1, leaving the club awaiting a final outcome and any potential sanctions.Punishment has not yet been announced, but the prospect of serious sporting consequences has renewed questions about the futures of the club’s leading players. If the eventual sanctions were severe enough to push City out of the Premier League, the situation surrounding their biggest names could change significantly, with Haaland likely to become one of the central figures in any subsequent transfer discussion.

The Norwegian is not currently leaving Manchester City, despite intensifying speculation about a possible future move to Real Madrid or Barcelona. In January 2025, he signed a nine-and-a-half-year contract extension that commits him to the club until the summer of 2034, making it one of the longest contracts in Premier League history.Haaland signed the deal because he believed in City’s plans for the future, but the circumstances surrounding the club have since changed following the commission’s verdict.

There is also no automatic escape or free-agent clause in his contract that would allow him to leave simply because City were relegated. The Abu Dhabi property purchase may reassure some City supporters, given the connection between the development and the club, but it does not settle the question of his long-term sporting future.

Haaland urges City supporters to stick together before Liverpool trip

Haaland has already addressed the atmosphere surrounding Manchester City after the commission’s verdict, asking supporters to remain positive and trust the club through the uncertainty.

He said his own connection to City extended beyond his role as a player, describing himself as a supporter of the club as well.“I care a lot about City, I care a lot about the fans because I am a fan myself and I feel with them as well. We have to stick together, we have to stay with each other and we have to stay positive,” Haaland said. The striker reiterated that message ahead of City’s trip to Anfield on Sunday, October 11, insisting that the players remained focused on football despite the legal developments.

He also expressed confidence that City supporters travelling to Liverpool would enjoy the occasion, while acknowledging the importance of staying united through the coming period.City’s first match since the verdict takes them to one of the most challenging away grounds in English football. Liverpool supporters have been discussing a potentially hostile reception for the visiting team bus, and Merseyside Police have confirmed that a security operation will be in place.

City’s players could face a reception that continues beyond the final whistle, depending on how the match unfolds.

Haaland has scored seven goals in seven appearances across competitions so far this campaign, making him central to City’s attempt to maintain their strong start.

Abu Dhabi purchase adds to Haaland’s property portfolio worth more than $30 million

The new home in the UAE would add to a property portfolio estimated to be worth well over $30 million, with existing holdings in England, Spain and Norway.

Although the price of his Abu Dhabi property remains unknown, his other reported homes illustrate the scale of his investments away from football. In Cheshire, England, Haaland owns a 10-bedroom estate valued at £6.2 million (approximately $8.2 million) in the area known as English football’s “Golden Triangle”. The property reportedly includes a private lake, an outdoor swimming pool, horse stables and a large treehouse. He also owns a luxury villa on Marbella’s exclusive Golden Mile in Spain, valued at approximately $7.1 million. The property includes underground facilities designed for athletic recovery, reflecting the importance of training and physical preparation in the life of a professional footballer.

In Oslo, Norway, his reported holdings include an Art Deco apartment in the Sommerro district, valued at approximately $3.28 million.

The Abu Dhabi purchase would expand those international interests, although its contribution to the estimated overall value of his real estate portfolio cannot be calculated without a confirmed purchase price. For Manchester City, Haaland’s latest investment is a welcome development amid a period of uncertainty, particularly because the project directly links him with the club’s Abu Dhabi partnership. However, the purchase should not be mistaken for a definitive statement about his long-term playing career: Haaland remains under contract until 2034, City have appealed the commission’s findings, and the possible consequences of the case have yet to be decided.
