Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has issued a decision establishing duty-free markets at three major land border crossings: Al Wajajah, Khatmat Malaha, and Rub' al Khali.
His Excellency Lieutenant General Hassan bin Mohsen Al Shuraqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, issued Decision No. 145/2026 to authorize the new commercial zones.
The initiative aims to stimulate economic and commercial activity at Oman's land borders by offering products at competitive prices, fully exempted from customs duties and taxes.
Beyond driving local commerce, the new duty-free zones are designed to enhance the logistics sector, support cross-border tourism, and elevate the overall travel experience by expanding retail options for transit passengers.
