KUALA LUMPUR: A miniature golden Mount Kinabalu presented by Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman to his wife, singer and actress Bella Astillah, has caught the attention of social media users after they spotted a romantic detail hidden in its design.
The wedding gift featured tiny figurines of the newlyweds, showing Syed Saddiq kneeling in front of Bella. People believe this detail represents the moment he proposed to her on Mount Kinabalu in Sabah.
One social media user was surprised by the thoughtful gesture, writing: "Such attention to detail in Syed Saddiq's wedding gifts. I thought it was just a mountain, but it turns out to symbolise her accepting his proposal!"
The golden mountain replica was given alongside a ring as part of the groom's gifts.
Syed Saddiq prepared seven trays of presents, which included insurance coverage, a postgraduate scholarship, contributions to the Employees Provident Fund's i-Simpan scheme, a home gym, a massage chair, a bicycle, a handbag, shoes, and an Umrah package.
Bella replied with nine trays of gifts for her new husband. Her presents included a ring, a pair of red-soled dress shoes, the Quran and a prayer mat, perfume, an e-book reader, spectacles, chocolates, gold, tickets to Ultraman, and a laptop bag.
The couple exchanged vows during a solemnisation ceremony at Menara Merdeka 118 on Saturday morning, conducted by former minister in charge of religious affairs Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.
Bella was given away by her father, Awang Astillah Abdullah, with Ustaz Syed Abdullah Syed Nordin and Ustaz Mohd Nizam Md Nor acting as official witnesses.
Syed Saddiq also presented a marriage dowry of RM500.
It was a special day for the iconic Menara Merdeka 118 as well, with Bella and Syed Saddiq becoming the first couple ever to tie the knot at the venue.
Ultimately, the symbolic mountain gift offered a sweet personal reminder of the proposal that brought the couple to this exciting new chapter of their lives.
