Quite significantly. Camera angles and lens choices are powerful tools that can alter the audience’s perception of a person’s height. For example, low-angle shots can make a subject appear taller and more dominant, while high-angle shots can do the opposite.

Wide-angle lenses can exaggerate proportions, especially when the subject is close to the lens, making them appear larger or taller. On the other hand, telephoto lenses compress depth and can flatten the subject's appearance, sometimes minimising perceived height.

Q: When reading biographies of various famous Hollywood actors, it can be intriguing to realise how short some of them are. As someone who has been working in film production for years, are there any common techniques used to make actors appear taller or shorter?
