Back in August, Turnstile released Never Enough: Versions, an extremely cool collection of remixes and covers of tracks from their 2025 album. On Versions, a bunch of dance producers — Floating Points, Four Tet, Kettama, Rod Lee — offered up their takes on Turnstile tracks. But that wasn't enough. It's never enough. Perhaps Chase & Status, the British drum 'n' bass duo, felt left out, since they just covered Turnstile's "Never Enough" in the BBC Live Lounge.
In the UK, Chase & Status are a big deal. Their career goes back more than 20 years, and they've racked up seven top-10 chart hits in their homeland. Their 2024 Stormzy collab "Backbone" was a #1 hit over there. Last month, the duo were featured, alongside Madness frontman Suggs, on Skepta's single "Innocent Smile." Chase & Status brought their live band — guitarist, singer, multiple backup singers — into the Live Lounge to do an exuberant dance-pop version of "Never Enough," hitting with jungle breakbeats instead of big guitars during the climactic moments. I think it sounds pretty cool. Check it out below.
Turnstile themselves are no strangers to the BBC Live Lounge. Earlier this year, they did their own session there, and they covered "Burning Fight," a classic from Zach De La Rocha's pre-Rage Against The Machine hardcore band Inside Out. Turnstile's free Washington Monument show is eight days away, and I am amped.
