A new leak indicates that the Vivo X500 Ultra is being tested with a larger telephoto sensor, which would mark the first telephoto sensor size upgrade for Vivo's Ultra models.
The Vivo X500 Ultra may feature a larger telephoto sensor than its predecessors. According to Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, the latest engineering version of an upcoming Ultra flagship powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is being tested with a 200 MP telephoto camera featuring a 1/1.12-inch sensor.
The X100 Ultra, X200 Ultra and X300 Ultra all use 1/1.4-inch 200 MP Samsung sensors in their 85 mm periscope telephoto cameras. The first two use the ISOCELL HP9, while the X300 Ultra uses the newer ISOCELL HP0. If adopted in the final model, the 1/1.12-inch sensor would mark the first increase in telephoto sensor size since the X100 Ultra, Vivo's first Ultra model. At the same resolution, the larger sensor provides roughly 56% more sensor area, which should translate to better low-light performance.
In a separate post, Digital Chat Station stated that the device features a flat 6.85-inch 2K 144 Hz LTPO display from BOE and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Vivo Vice President Huang Tao has previously stated that the next Ultra model will be released in March or April 2027. Pricing has not been announced.
