Samsung C&T's (028260) construction division is teaming up with Samsung Noble Life, a senior care specialist affiliated with Samsung Life Insurance, to expand its senior living ecosystem beyond dedicated retirement communities into regular apartment complexes.
Samsung C&T said on the 22nd that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Samsung Noble Life to cooperate on senior residences, nursing homes providing round-the-clock nursing and care, and senior living services tied to multi-unit housing. The deal combines the technology of Samsung C&T, which formally launched its artificial intelligence-based senior solution Everring last month, with the operating capabilities of Samsung Noble Life, which has built up premium residential management experience over 25 years running Samsung Noble County in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
Under the partnership, the two companies will work together in three areas: joint development of senior residences and nursing homes, development of senior-focused life care services for multi-unit housing, and joint research and development of age-tech services.
The partners will first identify opportunities to build new senior residences and nursing homes and to renovate aging facilities, working together from the initial planning stage. Samsung C&T will handle senior-focused design and construction and the adoption of its Everring digital solution, while Samsung Noble Life will oversee operations and specialized services after completion. The companies plan to build space standards that optimize circulation and care infrastructure by incorporating operating expertise from the planning stage.
They will also develop a care model for senior households living in regular apartment complexes and other multi-unit housing. Health and lifestyle data collected from residents through Everring will be linked to Samsung Noble Life's professional care services. The plan is to extend care services that have been available only to residents of dedicated senior facilities into ordinary housing, getting ahead of demand for aging in place, in which people grow older in homes they are already familiar with.
The age-tech research will center on jointly studying specialized technologies and care services using Samsung Noble County as a testbed. The companies plan to reflect data from care sites and the views of residents and care workers in the technology development process, turning technologies whose usefulness has been verified on site into services. The two have been running demonstrations of healthcare data management, AI behavior analysis and home AI companion robots through an open innovation program called Futurescape since 2024, and are currently testing Everring technology aimed at reducing fatigue among night-shift workers at the Samsung Noble County nursing home.
"By combining Samsung C&T's design, construction and digital solution capabilities with Samsung Noble Life's proven operating and service expertise, we will set a new standard for housing that allows seniors to live longer and healthier lives in spaces they know well," said Cho Hye-jung, executive vice president and head of Samsung C&T's DxP division.
