Consumers preparing to move picked health care robots and massage chairs most often as the appliance they want to bring into their new home, reflecting demand for managing health and resting at home.
Bodyfriend said on the 24th that health care robots and massage chairs ranked first at 24.7% in a survey of 500 adults aged 20 and over nationwide, conducted through the mobile survey platform Open Survey, on appliances they would want to buy when moving. Robot vacuums followed at 16.9%, then clothing care machines at 16.3%, food waste disposers at 13.5%, dryers at 10.7%, and air purifiers and humidifiers at 8.6%.
The most common reason for wanting to buy a health care robot or massage chair was the need for health management and rest at home, cited by 32.8% of respondents. Another 19% said they wanted to try a new health care appliance. The company said the findings suggest a growing number of consumers weigh health management and relaxation features, not just everyday convenience, when buying appliances.
The preference was evenly spread across age groups. Health care robots and massage chairs were chosen by 22.7% of respondents in their 20s, 23.9% in their 30s, 24.4% in their 40s, 24.6% in their 50s and 26.8% in their 60s. The category drew the highest response rate in every age group, with the share rising slightly among older respondents.
In a survey of brand preference for health care robots and massage chairs, Bodyfriend drew the highest response rate at 43.9%. The second-ranked brand came in at 32.9% and the third at 10.1%. The most cited reason for choosing Bodyfriend was trust in it as a leading brand, at 35.4%.
Health care robots and massage chairs also ranked first in earlier Bodyfriend surveys on the most desired gifts for Family Month in May and for the Chuseok holiday. In this survey, they drew strong preference not only as gifts but also as appliances consumers want to buy themselves when moving.
"The fact that people picked health care robots and massage chairs as the appliances they want to bring into a new home shows how important rest and health care at home have become," a Bodyfriend official said. "We will continue to present advanced robotics technology so that people can have a hyper-personalized health care experience at home."
