Malolo head coach Rupeni Nasiga has praised his side for their efforts despite suffering a heartbreaking defeat to Naitasiri in the Skipper Cup quarter-finals.
The side came short of creating history once again in the Skipper Cup, after winning the title in their debut season last year.
Nasiga acknowledged the tough contest, tipping his hat to Naitasiri for delivering a strong performance and holding their nerve in a closely fought encounter.
He said that although Malolo defeated Naitasiri in Round 11 last weekend, the intensity and pressure of knockout rugby presented an entirely different challenge.

Nasiga also praised Naitasiri’s resolute defence, which proved decisive in the dying seconds of the match when Malolo came within metres of crossing the try line but were unable to find a way through.
He admitted that missed opportunities proved costly for his side, with Malolo unable to capitalize on key moments when it mattered most.
“Despite the loss we thank God for brining us this far. Even though we beat them last week, we knew it was going to be a more tough game today and that’s exactly what we got. We didn’t make use of all our opportunities; they did just that and was able to walk away with the win.”
Despite the disappointment, Nasiga said the team accepted the result with humility and wished Naitasiri all the best as they prepare for the Skipper Cup semi-finals.
