By Muhammad Tanko Shittu — The Citizen Joint Tactical Formation, CJTF-TF, Nigeria has proposed deploying 450 volunteer personnel to gather intelligence in the Wase/Bashar axis of Plateau State.
The organisation said the proposal followed a correspondence from the Nigerian Army Headquarters acknowledging receipt of its operational profile.
Its Commander General and National Coordinator, Tanimu Shehu, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, adding that the correspondence was dated February 24, 2026.
According to the statement, the Army Headquarters, through its Department of Army Operations, Abuja, directed the organisation to liaise with the Headquarters of the 3 Division in Jos on civil-collaborative intelligence initiatives to improve security in Plateau State.
Mr Shehu said the organisation remained committed to operating within the framework of Nigerian law and maintaining proper coordination with statutory security agencies.
In a related development, the CJTF-TF announced the appointment of Pastor Francis Elijah Umukoro of Redemption City as an adviser to its National Headquarters and Grand Patron of its Ogun State Command.
Mr Shehu said the appointments were aimed at strengthening the organisation’s leadership, community engagement and institutional support.
He described Mr Umukoro as a community leader with interests in community development and youth empowerment, adding that he had pledged to support the organisation through strategic guidance and community engagement.
The commander also directed acting state commanders and coordinators across the country to establish councils comprising five to six Grand Patrons drawn from community leaders, religious institutions and the business sector.
He said the councils would provide strategic advice, promote accountability, support personnel welfare and facilitate engagement with government authorities and security agencies.
The statement stressed that appointing only one patron would not meet the organisation’s requirements, insisting on the establishment of councils to broaden its support base and strengthen its institutional structure.
