Congress workers and members of Dalit and progressive organisations staged a protest in Mandya on Saturday condemning Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy for his allegedly personal attack against Home Minister Priyank Kharge.
The protest was held at Sanjay Circle in Mandya, where the protesters blocked the old Bengaluru–Mysuru highway and formed a human chain to express their anger.
Holding posters of H.D. Kumaraswamy, the protesters raised slogans against him.
Congress party’s Mandya district president Kumar Koppa, who also participated in the protest, said it was unbecoming of a responsible Union Minister to make such remarks. “Leaders from influential families should learn how to conduct themselves with dignity,” the Congress leader said while cautioning Mr. Kumaraswamy against slighting the Congress leaders.
Meanwhile, the protestors said Mr. Kumaraswamy’s personal attacks against a Dalit Home Minister is unacceptable and warned that an intense agitation will be launched across the State if such criticism continued against Mr. Kharge.
