For a brief moment, Hoggard football's Week 10 matchup with North Brunswick was tied at 7-7.
But only for a moment.
What followed was a historic offensive explosion as Hoggard rewrote its record books Friday, Oct. 23, in Leland, steamrolling North Brunswick 67-7 and setting a new program record for most points scored in a single game.
"It was really cool to hear afterward that that was our highest-scoring game because it was one of those games where just so many different guys contributed," Hoggard coach Craig Underwood said.
The Vikings' record-breaking performance was fueled by an astronomical second quarter in which they scored 41 unanswered points, turning a nine-point advantage into a commanding 57-7 halftime lead.

Hoggard's defense found the end zone twice, while quarterback Matthew Boring threw two touchdown passes. The Vikings also rushed for three scores, and kicker Kanoa McGee connected on two field goals.
"It was wild," Underwood said of his team's remarkable second quarter. "It was really fast."
Entering Friday's matchup, Hoggard hadn't surrendered a single first-half point to a conference opponent this season.
North Brunswick briefly changed that.
After the Vikings jumped ahead 7-0 in the first quarter, the Scorpions answered with a 53-yard touchdown pass to even the score.
Hoggard responded with another touchdown and a safety to take a 16-7 lead into the second quarter, where the floodgates opened.
By halftime, the Vikings had piled up 57 points, and a running clock was implemented for the second half. Hoggard added 10 more points after the break to put the finishing touches on its historic night.
The Vikings are chasing their fourth consecutive conference championship this fall as they prepare to close the regular season at home against Ashley on Friday, Oct. 30.
History is firmly on Hoggard's side entering that matchup. The Vikings have never lost to the Screaming Eagles, holding a perfect 26-0 record in the all-time series.
"We set out every season with a goal of a conference championship," he said. "Our guys are fired up and excited."
