Two motorcyclists were killed when a truck hit their motorcycle in Baishwamora area on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Sarail upazila of district on Wednesday.
The deceased were Anup Kumar, 55, and Anwarul Azim, 40, who were residents of Narsingdi district.
Abdul Halim , officer-in-charge (OC) of Khatihata Highway Police Station said the accident took place in the area when a truck hit the motorcycle from behind, leaving bike rider Anup Kumar dead on the spot and Azim injured.
Anwarul Azim was rescued in critical condition and taken to Sadar hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The OC said the truck driver fled the scene after the accident, but the truck had been taken into police custody. Legal action in this connection is underway.
