The United Nations in Libya said today that it is monitoring the impact of heavy rains that have affected the capital, Tripoli, and other parts of the country, resulting in water accumulation that damaged homes, businesses, and property, and disrupted the lives and livelihoods of citizens.
The United Nations expressed its solidarity with all those affected and commends the tireless efforts of national and local authorities, emergency teams, and volunteers to assist affected residents and ensure their safety.
It said that amid the growing challenges posed by climate change and extreme weather events worldwide, the United Nations reaffirms its readiness to continue cooperating with national partners and providing technical expertise to enhance emergency preparedness and response, develop early warning systems, and reduce disaster risks, thereby helping to protect lives, property, and livelihoods.
