TOKYO (TR) – Popular adult video (AV) actress Meguri has dropped a bombshell on her fanbase, revealing she hid a 10-year marriage that ultimately collapsed after her ex-husband refused to treat his infertility.
The 37-year-old actress, who transitioned from a gravure idol to an exclusive AV star in 2009, made the shocking confession on YouTube in June. She disclosed that she had been secretly married to a man she began living with in 2013, keeping her status as a married woman completely hidden from the public.
Speaking candidly in a recent interview with Nikkan Spa! (Oct. 23), Meguri exposed the bitter truth behind her sudden 2017 retirement from the adult industry. While her husband claimed to support her career on the surface, he pressured her to quit.
“I respected his wishes and retired, but I cried so much during my final shoot,” Meguri said. “I didn’t actually want to quit. I had to suppress my true feelings because I couldn’t reveal the real reason.”
Divorced
Following her retirement, the couple immediately began trying to conceive. However, after four months of unsuccessful fertility treatments, tests revealed that her husband suffered from male infertility. Instead of working together to solve the issue, he became entirely uncooperative.
“I asked him to change his lifestyle habits, but he refused. He wouldn’t go to treatments, and he rejected my proposal for in vitro fertilization (IVF),” Meguri revealed. “Honestly, I was left wondering, ‘What happens now?’ It made me question why I even quit being an AV actress in the first place.”
Frustrated by the betrayal and the stalling of her family plans, Meguri announced her return to the AV industry in 2019. The couple officially divorced at the end of 2023.
Future partner
Now, facing the reality of advanced maternal age, the actress is taking drastic steps to ensure she can become a mother on her own terms. Having frozen her eggs as an “asset” in 2020, Meguri says she is now consulting with clinics about using a foreign sperm bank to create fertilized embryos.
“If I don’t find a partner, I might use those eggs to give birth,” she stated, adding that she expects to make a final decision soon. She noted that any future partner would have to accept that her primary goal is having a child immediately, not just romance.
“I want to live my life my way”
Despite the painful end to her marriage, the actress maintains a surprisingly casual relationship with her ex. While alone on her 37th birthday in May, she drunkenly messaged him to ask if he had remarried. Upon learning he still lived in their spacious four-bedroom apartment, she jokingly asked to move back in — an offer he swiftly rejected.
As for her career, Meguri remains fiercely dedicated. She intends to remain an AV actress until she is 65, though she teased fans that if she does successfully become pregnant next year, she might sneak into videos as a “nameless pregnant extra” to shock viewers.
“I want to live my life my way, without regrets,” she said.
