Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Rashid Langrial has ruled out outsourcing field offices to private companies for tax collection, sources told ProPakistani.
An FBR spokesperson also dismissed reports that the government was considering outsourcing Inland Revenue or Customs offices and called them baseless. The spokesperson said no domestic or international tender had been issued to outsource any FBR field office.
The spokesperson added that a simplified process of reforms and organizational changes was underway at FBR and that the media would be informed once final decisions were made.
However, proposals to outsource Inland Revenue and Customs offices had been discussed at a meeting several days ago as part of FBR’s reform process. The proposals were reportedly put forward by consultants from international firms and aimed to increase revenue collection.
The outsourcing proposal has been put on hold for now, sources added.
