The No. 2 Michigan State hockey program bounced back on the road with a 2-1 win at New Hampshire on Oct. 24 after falling 1-0 the previous night.
Freshman forward Mason West recorded his first collegiate goal to start the scoring late in the second period, beating his man to the front of the net where senior forward Jimmy Clark fed him a pass for a tap-in.
Sophomore forward Anthony Romani put the Spartans up two when he ripped a shot from the right circle past traffic in front of the New Hampshire net and through the legs of Wildcats goaltender Michael Thompson.
New Hampshire would score on the power play midway through the third period to cut the deficit to one, then pushed hard for an equalizer. MSU was able to withstand that pressure, primarily thanks to freshman goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen, who made a career-high 38 saves after stopping 33 shots on Friday.
MSU (4-1-0) will travel to Austin, Tex. next weekend for a one-game showdown with No. 4 North Dakota, who was just swept this weekend by Big Ten foe Minnesota.
