Lamar Jackson suffered an ankle injury in Week 4, and the two-time NFL MVP left the game in a walking boot. While this was originally reported to be a minor injury, the two-time MVP missed Week 5 and is in danger of missing Week 6 as well. Originally entering the league as a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Louisville product started his rookie season on the bench before he took over for an injured Joe Flacco. After guiding his team to the playoffs and showing some promise as a rookie, Jackson stepped up and established himself as one of the game’s elite quarterbacks.
Since 2019, Lamar Jackson has made it to four Pro Bowls, won two MVP’s, and earned First-Team All-Pro honors three times while consistently guiding Baltimore to winning seasons. While injuries have been an issue throughout his career, he’s still unstoppable when on the field. So far this season, the quarterback has completed 70.8% of his passes for 967 yards, six touchdowns, and just one interception, but he might not have the chance to add to his numbers this weekend. While nothing is certain, the team’s official injury report notes he did not practice Wednesday or Thursday, which does not bode well for Sunday’s contest.
Lamar Jackson Injury Update: Ravens QB Still Not Practicing
The Last Word
A player like Lamar Jackson does not need a full week of practice to prepare for a game, but this is still a worrisome sign. Baltimore has one of the league’s most talented rosters, but no team can compete without an elite quarterback under center. Fortunately, they should be able to survive in the short term without him.
If Lamar Jackson isn’t ready to go for Week 6, Baltimore will turn the ball over to longtime backup Tyler Huntley. Huntley played well in relief of Jackson last week, completing 24 of his 32 attempts for 201 yards and two touchdowns in the overtime victory. Throughout the course of his career, the veteran has gone 8-9 while completing 67.1% of his passes for 3,476 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He’s no Lamar Jackson, but he’s more than capable of keeping the offense on schedule for a few weeks.
