MELAKA: A security guard was charged at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court today with two counts of sexual assault against his 15-year-old stepsister.
The 29-year-old accused pleaded not guilty after the charges were read before judge Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin.
According to the charges, the man was accused of committing physical sexual assault against the 15-year-old girl for sexual purposes.
The offences were allegedly committed in a room at a house in Taman Anika at 8am in mid-November 2025, and at a house in Jalan Pandan Jaya, Taman Pandan Jaya, at 3.30pm on Oct 15.
The charges were framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a maximum prison term of 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Rif'ah 'Izzati Abdul Mutalif proposed bail at RM20,000 for each charge, alongside additional conditions that the accused must not intimidate the victim or prosecution witnesses and must report to the nearest police station monthly.
Lawyer Mohamed Musthafa, representing the accused, requested minimal bail, arguing that his client is single, lives with his family, and earns RM1,700 a month as a security guard.
The court allowed bail at RM10,000 with one surety for both charges, subject to the additional conditions requested by the prosecution.
The court fixed Nov 23 for document submission.
