ANSEONG — The Park Dujin Literary Museum in Anseong has been named the country's best literary museum in a nationwide evaluation.
The museum received a commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism after being selected as the top literary museum at the 2026 National Conference of Korean Literary Museums, held on the 13th in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, the Anseong city government said on the 16th.
The commendation goes to public and private literary museums nationwide that have contributed to promoting literature and revitalizing local culture. The Park Dujin Literary Museum was recognized for its specialized projects built on local literary resources and for its citizen-participation programs.
The museum has run literary and cultural programs tied to local festivals and evening community events. It has also worked to broaden the base of local literature through special exhibitions organized with universities, literature promotion projects and programs to train citizen writers.
Evaluators said the museum had expanded the role of literary museums beyond exhibitions and education. It created opportunities for residents to encounter literature in daily life and take part in writing themselves, highlighting the value of local literature.
"This award is the result of the interest and participation of citizens, the local community and people working in literature," an official at the museum said. "We will continue to carry on the literary spirit of the poet Park Dujin and pursue projects that let citizens enjoy literature in their everyday lives."
The museum will host the Cheongnok Literature Academic Conference and the Park Dujin Cheongnok Festival from the 23rd to the 24th at the museum and the surrounding Anseong Matchum Land.
The academic conference on the 23rd will examine the literary and historical significance of Cheongnok literature. The main event on the 24th will feature a storytelling performance with the poet Do Jong-hwan and the web novelist Lee Nak-jun, along with a nationwide writing competition, hands-on programs and street performances.
