KUALA LUMPUR: Zetrix AI Bhd has yet to make any payment towards the RM314 million in outstanding government revenue, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.
He said the suspension of the company's appointment as a Road Transport Department (RTD) collection agent had not disrupted summons payments or other services, which remained accessible through alternative channels, including MyJPJ.
"In terms of payment, they have yet to pay.
"Other services are still available through MyJPJ. There are other options," he said at a press conference after the launch of Phase Three of the Masjid Jamek LRT station upgrade project.
Loke said there had been no disruption in RTD services over the past two weeks, with road tax renewals and other transactions continuing as usual as more users switched to MyJPJ.
The RTD suspended My E.G. Sdn Bhd and Zetrix AI as collection agents from Oct 5 after they failed to remit RM314 million in government revenue collected between May 19 and Sept 30 this year.
Loke said authorities held four engagement sessions and issued 35 reminders to recover the arrears. He also said an RM231 million cheque could not be processed after the company instructed its bank to stop payment.
Zetrix AI said it had submitted a proposed solution to the government, adding that its immediate priority was to settle its outstanding obligations and restore the affected services.
Meanwhile, on the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), Loke said family fare packages could be considered by the operator amid concerns over the combined ticket costs for families.
He said the decision rested with the operator, a joint venture between Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) and China Communications Construction Company (CCCC).
"That is up to the operator. For your information, it is a joint venture between Malaysia and China.
"Family packages and so on can be considered," he said when asked about possible packages following the announcement of fares and schedules.
