Patriots HC Mike Vrabel Pumps Brakes on AJ Brown Concerns

New England Patriots wide receiver AJ Brown made his return to the field in a Week 6 matchup against the New York Jets on Sunday.

Brown, who suffered an ankle injury in his Patriots debut against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1, struggled mightily in his return. The veteran WR dropped several perfect passes from quarterback Drake Maye, finishing the game with just three catches for 27 yards on 10 targets.

During a radio appearance on Monday, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel was asked if New England fans should be concerned about Brown as a reliable pass catcher moving forward.

“Concern? No, I don’t think so. I think we just have to make plays that we’re supposed to make and the ones that we expect ourselves to make," Vrabel replied. "I mean, I liked the separation. Unfortunately, we just have to finish. I mean, I think that that’s just something that he’s done a lot of and made those plays over the years, and that’s kinda what he said.”

Despite Brown's struggles, the Patriots mounted a 26-19 win over the Jets. This marked the team's third consecutive win, improving their record to 4-2 on the season.

The Patriots will look to maintain their positive momentum into Thursday night's Week 7 matchup against the Chicago Bears.
