The Princess of Wales was in East Anglia this week visiting a number of organisations to learn more about their work in local communities. While chatting with staff and volunteers, the Princess shared an insight into her family life, revealing an upcoming event her children are particularly excited about - and it's something every child can relate to.
On Thursday (22 October), the Princess of Wales visited Cafe 98 in Norfolk, a charity shop, cafe and community space. During her visit, Kate got hands on with the stock, and joined volunteers for a cup of tea. Videos of her visit have been circling on social media and, in one, she is seen chatting in the cafe about her children; Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as well as her mum and dad; Carole and Michael Middleton.
'My kids are looking forward to half time, my parents as well,' Kate said, referring to the upcoming half term week off school, that other kids across the UK are looking forward to. While it's a great time for children, being able to have a break from lessons, it's also an opportunity for other members of the family to spend time together. For instance, grandparents having availability to see their grandchildren, which is likely what Kate meant when she referenced her parents. 'Half term is a good chance to catch up on family life,' she said.

During her trip to the area, the Princess also visited a centre for children and their families supported by East Anglia’s Children Hospices. In a post, Kate said it had been 'wonderful' to spend time at the The Treehouse in Ipswich and witness their 'extraordinary' care, allowing families to 'spend meaningful time together, make precious memories and find moments of joy.' A video of her day focused on the music workshops offered at the centre, showing how children can communicate through instruments and the sounds they create.
Responding to the post, East Anglia’s Children Hospices offered their 'heartfelt thank you' to Kate, who is Patron of the organisation, saying they were 'honoured to showcase the difference children's hospice care makes and celebrate the children, families, staff and supporters.' Another commenter on the post said they had been present during the visit, praising the Princess as 'kind and compassionate' and adding that she was 'a lot taller' than they'd imagined.
