Andoni Iraola has confirmed Dominik Szoboszlai has suffered a setback with the same injury that had already been troubling him, while Jeremie Frimpong is also facing a likely spell on the sidelines after Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Brentford.
Szoboszlai missed the last two games but returned to the starting line-up against Brentford, though lasted just half an hour before being forced off.
Frimpong, meanwhile, came on as a second-half substitute but had to be taken off shortly afterwards.
“It’s a very delicate situation because at the end we were coming from playing in the Champions League away two days ago, we arrived very late and probably not the proper recovery,” Iraola said.
“You have a doubt over the players who have already started two games and are very tired or the players who are recovering from injuries, you are not 100% sure.”

Szoboszlai’s problem is not a new one, with Iraola suggesting he had returned before fully recovering.
“Different cases,” he said.
“Dom felt the same injury, not a new injury, probably not healed enough and we will need more time with him.”
Frimpong’s issue is a fresh concern after he was introduced against ten men in the hope he could provide more attacking threat.
“Jeremie was new,” Iraola said.
“He finished with cramp the other day but I put him in because playing against ten men, going forward, I thought he could give us more than Ronald.
“But it means we will lose Jeremie and Dom for some time, yes.”
Despite the injury blows, Iraola was pleased with the result as goals from Victor Munoz and Alexander Isak secured victory, with Brentford having two players sent off.
“I think it’s a very important three points because Brentford are a very good team,” he said.
